Olando Vacation Resorts to Discover

by Geraldine Dimarco

Orlando vacation resorts, and Orlando vacations generally, are notoriously hectic especially with all the attractions the kids want to visit, but there is so much more to enjoy in this busy city. A visitor will never be left feeling bored in Orlando with a huge range of cultural places to visit, shopping malls and 'non-theme park' attractions. Florida in general has a long history of attracting tourists and this is the busiest city with more and more people visiting each year in a place that will satisfy even the most demanding of individuals.

If you enjoy shopping then you will love Orlando. It has plenty of malls and stores like Outdoor World which is so large it contains a 17,000 gallon aquarium and you could spend all day there. The city has its own charming identity and attractions but the majority of people taking a vacation in Orlando arrive here in order to visit possibly the happiest place on earth.

Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. It is actually a privately owned charitable group dedicated to the protection of exotic animals plus species that are native to Florida but also offers informative and child-friendly classes and events.

Then there are the works of Louis Tiffany whose famous collection is housed here in the Morse Museum of American Art. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.

No adult, despite any thoughts to the opposite, could go to any of the Orlando vacation resorts and find nothing of interest as the range of attractions for both the young and old is huge. Orlando vacations offer evening entertainment that's no less interesting with family venues such Pirates Adventure, Medieval Feast to more adult themes such as Disney's Downtown Pleasure Island open until the early hours.

If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the 1920s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.

For something a little different there's the Titanic Exhibition which tells the story of the ill fated Ocean Liner performed by a character from the ship; the displays contain some original salvaged items and at times the tour is very moving. Away from all the hustle is the wonderful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown; it has beautiful sidewalks in over forty acres where it is possible to spend a few peaceful hours.

However, there aren't that many visitors who visit Orlando without a trip to one of the four main Disney theme parks or the equally impressive Universal studios; where a person's age really doesn't matter. Whatever you want from a vacation, Orlando can supply and you don't have to work hard at finding it either. Next time you are thinking of spending time in the Orlando vacation resorts, try some of the other attractions, you won't be disappointed.
