Holiday Villas in Croatia - What you need to know about Croatia
Throughout the early 1990's Croatia was a place that was not somewhere that tourists were going to be visiting because of the war taking place. Yet today it is a completely different story and now more and more visitors are flocking again to enjoy the splendors of this beautiful country.
The main tourist attractions that people visiting Croatia come for are the beautiful well maintained beaches and its unspoilt villages. Also there is plenty for one to and see that provides you with the learn more about this country's turbulent history.
Generally those visiting Croatia will visit the towns of Zagreb which is the country's capital and has been it since 1557. They also are now making trips to the cities of Split and Dubrovnik.
Zagreb is one city in Eastern Europe where they have been able to comfortably mix the old with the new. As you wander from one boutique to the next selling all the latest fashions from France and Italy you can enjoy the beautiful Austro-Hungarian architecture as well.
Then there is Dubrovnik, this city remains much of its old world charm and certainly too really take in its architectural splendor you need to spend time wandering around the Stari Grad part of the city. The squares have been paved with marble, and there are steep cobbled streets for you to explore. All the time enjoying the architecture of its many convents, churches and palaces which may have been damaged during the war but which over the last few years have been lovingly restored to their former glories.
In fact if you really want to get a great view of this city then take time out to wander along the city walls and climb one of the 16 towers that are part of it. The actual wall itself was constructed between the 13th and 16th Century and has certainly managed to stand the test of time. However, if you are afraid of heights then a trip up the towers should be avoided as each one stands to a height of 82 feet (25m).
Most people when visiting Croatia to avoid the high temperatures of the summer will visit it in the spring or early part of the summer. However, it is advisable to bring some waterproof clothing as the chances of it raining are much higher at this time.
But if you are thinking of spending a summer holiday in Croatia then head towards one of its many coastal resorts. As well as plenty of sunshine the breezes that float in off of the sea help to keep the temperatures at a more comfortable level. However, it is important that you still remember to bring the sun cream with you. Also throughout winter these parts of Croatia are enjoyable to visit as the water retains much of the heat throughout the summer to then return it back on to the land once more and keep the air warm.
