Guide to Holiday Apartments in the Balearics

by Steve Woodward

When you are trying to decide which of the various holiday apartments in the Balearics that you would like to stay in during your vacation, you will find that these islands off the coast of Spain have numerous choices available to you. Certainly, some people prefer to stay in those that enable to relax and unwind, whilst others prefer to enjoy the nightlife that is found on Ibiza.

Certainly, when it comes to finding and then booking the right accommodation to visit this part of Spain, the internet is the quickest and easiest way of doing this. However, when trying to book such accommodation it is important to take your time and do a little research before hand.

There are sites where you can either book the accommodation directly with the owner or you could use the services of a holiday rental company instead. Certainly, booking through such companies will often provide you with a little more security and some comeback if any problems arise. But when you do decide to book through one of these companies there are a number of things that you will need to take into consideration first. In this article, we look at just what some of these are.

Firstly when booking through these companies you will be required to pay a deposit. This money is usually around 30% of the total rental price of the accommodation and confirms the reservation that you have made. But be aware that should you need to cancel for any reason some companies may not return the deposit or may return only part of it.

But in order to prevent this situation from arising if you do need to cancel it is wise to take out some kind of cancellation protection insurance if the company offers such a facility. This way if you do have to cancel your reservation through no fault of your own then your deposit will be returned to you in fully. For this kind of protection, again you will be required to pay a fee of around 5% of the total accommodation rental cost.

Many rental companies will offer the accommodation in one particular currency on their sites, but are more than willing to allow you to make payments with another. But you need to be aware of the currency exchange rates at the time of booking as this can seriously effect just how much you pay for your accommodation.

If paying by credit card your provider will then convert the currency where you live to the currency that you need to pay in at the exchange rate that is available on the day of the transaction. So be wary as you may find yourself paying far more than you would have expected for the accommodation.

Another couple of factors, which need to be taken into consideration in relation to how much you pay for holiday apartments in the Balearics, is where they are located and when you will be staying. Certainly if you intend to visit these islands at the height of the summer season then expect to pay considerably more than if you were visiting during the winter or spring months. Also you may find that staying in resorts like Ibiza are going to be considerably more than if you choose a much more secluded location.
